Science

Science stimulates and excites the students’ curiosity about the world about them and it satisfies this curiosity with knowledge. Science can engage learners at many levels. It allows them to be creative in
their way of thinking, to experiment and observe, to question and discuss, to explore and evaluate and to reason and draw conclusions based on experience and research.

Our aim is to inspire and motivate the students to become enthusiastic learners, to use and understand science and, at the same time, to stimulate and foster a genuine love of science.

The students will be given opportunities to use and apply science in practical tasks, in real life situations
and within the subject context. They will be taught to ask questions and develop reasoning, try different approaches, develop strategies, check results and develop appropriate subject language. Students should be encouraged to relate science to their every day domestic life, their environment, personal health and safety and care of other living things. They carry out fieldwork in the vicinity of the school and pay visits
to locations such as seashore, woodland, park, rivers and ponds. In the course of scientific activities we would like children to develop attitudes ofcuriosity, originality, creativity, co-operation, perseverance,
open-mindedness, responsibility and respect for living things and the physical environment.

The Science curriculum is organised under the following headings:

1. Scientific investigation
2. Life processes and living things
3. Materials and their properties
4. Physical processes
