Job role

The IT Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining and upgrading the computer systems and networks. Day to day responsibilities will include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and application problems. The IT Technician oversees the smooth running of computer systems and programs whilst ensuring users get maximum benefits from them.


The IT Technician is responsible for maintaining and protecting the school’s IT infrastructure. This includes taking measures to keep the network and devices free from harm, as well as making regular back-up copies of important documents.


IT Technician Responsibilities

  •  Maintaining and protecting the school’s IT infrastructure and network

  •  Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability

  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues

  •  Repairing or replacing damaged hardware

  • Ensuring electrical safety standards are met

  •  Upgrading the entire system to enable compatible software on all computers and devices

  •  Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting

  • Conducting regular backup operations of important documents

  • Testing and evaluating new technology

  • Advising on the purchase of new technology

  • Maintaining documentation and hardware/software registers

  • Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues

  • Managing technical documentation.


Skills required

  •  Proficient in database programming and software installation

  • Experience in computer networks and systems maintenance

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Good communication skills in English

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail


Work Experience

Ideally, we would like to see at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
