Amber Level from Thursday 16th December

Dear Birralee Families,

Although we are nearly at the end of term, as you probably know, during the government press conference on Monday, it was announced that all schools will be on Amber Level from this week. The government has allowed schools until Thursday to implement measures.

As a result of the measures that have been put in place, the Christmas Service on Friday will not go ahead as planned this year and there will be no End of Term Assembly for all our students on Friday as planned, instead there will be arrange alternative activities and class parties.

  1. We will be returning to cohorts which means that each class will be a separate cohort during the school day.

  2. Between 07:30 and 08:30 the playground will only be available for students in ASP Morning Club

  3. From 08:15 there will be a member of staff in the park opposite the school to supervise students before the start of the day.

  4. Once again we will allocate entrances to the students, information to follow.

  5. During ASP the students will be in separate classrooms for their snack and will be outside from about 15:00.

We will of course continue to maintain our increased hygiene routines with students washing their hands when they come in at 8:30; when they come back into school after a break; before and after they eat.

In order to limit the number of people who come into the school building and on the playground, we ask that parents wait for their children outside the gate. In addition, the school office will be available via email.

With regards to quarantine, based on the information that has been made available we ask that if your child or a member of your household tests positive that children are kept at home in line with the stricter quarantine requirements. If your child does test positive for Covid 19 it is very important that the school is informed as early as possible so that we can take the necessary steps. Additionally, as has been the case since the pandemic began, we ask that children are not sent to school if they have any Covid 19 symptoms or respiratory symptoms.

We will update you as soon as we receive further information.

In the meantime, stay safe and look after each other.

Best wishes,

Mrs Elin J Hitchman

Principal
