Happy Holidays!

Dear Birralee Families,

As we approach the holidays, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the last few weeks, which have been particularly bustling in all our year groups.

Our school has been alive with creativity, courage and collaboration these last days. Year 1 has demonstrated excellent fine motor skills while making festive crafts and artwork, as well as baking and decorating pepperkaker this week. Year 2 finished their work on the IPC Unit Chocolate and celebrated it with a well-attended exit point.

Year 3 delighted us all with their joyful performance of The Bee Musical, showing confidence and enthusiasm on stage. Years 4 and 5 joined forces to take on the energetic and ambitious performance of Shakespeare Rocks, rising to the challenge and proving that teamwork can achieve wonderful results. Year 6, on the other hand, transported us to Oz with their colourful and confident production of The Wizard of Oz, while Year 7 impressed audiences with Oliver – with a Twist, bringing fresh ideas and maturity to a classic story.

Year 8 enjoyed a Christmas workshop in the school library, where they created some truly stunning dystopian comics exploring important issues in society. While Year 9 put their creativity to work by producing commercials for a range of products and causes, including julebrus, julegrøt, and several Norwegian charities.

Our Year 10 students embraced outdoor swimming, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones and showing resilience, determination and support for one another.

In the very same final week,

Year 5 also had the unique and memorable experience of welcoming the Norwegian King to Trondheim – an event that reminded us how learning connects to the wider world and how proud we can be of our students as ambassadors for our school.

To our students, thank you for your enthusiasm, creativity, and resilience this year.

To our staff, thank you for your hard work and unwavering commitment.

To our parents, thank you for your dedication and support.

I wish you all a joyful Christmas holiday and look forward to continuing our work together in the New Year.

Festive wishes,

Mrs Hitchman  Principal
