Dear Birralee Families, Arctic Race of Norway coming to Trondheim On Sunday, August 14, the day before the start of the new school year, the Arctic Race of Norway will be be coming to Trondheim. The Arctic Race of Norway is a professional cycling race, similar to the Tour de France. It is a big sporting event that creates a lot of media attention. Partnership with Bufdir Bufdir, The Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs, is an official partner of the Arctic Race. They use the publicity the race generates to help raise awareness for their cause. Birralee has been asked to help spread their message that a good childhood lasts a lifetime and to raise awareness for the fact that there is a need for more foster care families in Trondheim. We think this is a noble cause that we would like to contribute to. Birralee Community Event Together with Bufdir, we are therefore orgnising a short get-together on the school playground prior to the race passing the city centre. - Sunday, August 14, from 15:15 - 16:15 Music, play, and hopefully face painting and goody bags on the school playground! Bufdir will also be handing out free t-shirts with their slogan En god barndom varer livet ut. They hope that many people will wear them as the race passes by. - Sunday, August 14, from 16:15 We walk over to Prinsens gate to cheer the riders on. In total, the riders will pass Prinsens gate four times. Families are encouraged to bring a hand flag from their country to add to the atmosphere. The Arctic Race of Norway is broadcased live on TV2 and in 190 countries world wide. We hope that we will be prominently featured in the TV broadcast, waving our international flags and wearing our Bufdir T-shirts. Bufdir will also be taking photographs to help spread their message about the importance of foster care.
