Year 9 dissected real animal hearts during a combined IGCSE Science and Physical Education lesson today.
In Physical Education, they have been learning about the effect of exercise on the heart, as well as about the long-term effects of exercise on heart size (hypertrophy).
They looked at the function and location of the atria, ventricles and valves.
They also looked for the the pathway of blood through the heart, trying to locate the aorta, vena cava, pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein.
