Birralee Year 9 Secures 3rd Place Nationally

Year 9 students at Birralee International School have delivered an impressive performance in this year’s UngeAbel competition.

UngeAbel is a national mathematics competition for lower secondary students in Norway, designed to promote problem-solving, logical thinking and collaboration. The competition challenges students with creative and demanding tasks that go beyond the standard curriculum, encouraging teamwork and deeper mathematical understanding.

Competing against more than 4,000 students from across the country, our students progressed through the first two rounds to become the top-scoring school in Trøndelag. This achievement secured them a place in the national semi-final on April 14. In the semi-final our team competed alongside Agder, Finnmark, and Nordland for a place in the national final the following day.

The semi-finals took place in Oslo on April 14.

The Birralee Year 9 Team advanced to the national final on 15 April, where they achieved the following results:

  1. Samfunnet skole (Agder)

  2. Sandnes skole / Bjørnevatn skole (Finnmark)

  3. Biralee International School Trondheim (Trøndelag)

  4. Leknes skole (Nordland)

Finishing 3rd in Norway is a fantastic accomplishment. We warmly congratulate our Year 9 students on their dedication, teamwork and outstanding effort!
